Crewe Alexandra's unbeaten start to the season stretched to eight games, but they were held to a sixth consecutive league draw in a 1-1 stalemate at Rotherham United. The Railwaymen now sit ninth in the League Two table with 12 points from eight matches, three points behind the leaders.

An own goal from Dominic Iorfa gave Crewe a 21st-minute lead, but Paul Mullin levelled for the Millers just before half-time after being set up by Kian Spence. Lee Bell's side made two changes from the draw with Shrewsbury, with Adrien Thibaut handed his first league start of the season and Kyle Ure coming in at left-back.

Crewe switched to a 4-4-2 shape in the second half as they introduced substitutes including Owen Lunt and Jack Lankester. Lankester thought he had won it late on, but his finish was ruled out for a marginal offside. The visitors had to rely on goalkeeper T. Booth, who made four saves, as Rotherham enjoyed 57% possession and registered 11 shots.

"Crewe Alexandra recorded a sixth consecutive league draw when they were held 1-1 at Rotherham United," the club said. "It means the Alex’s unbeaten start to the season is extended to eight games, with Bristol Rovers up next."

That home fixture against third-placed Bristol Rovers comes next on the fixtures list.
