Crewe Alexandra F.C. has taken a bold step in marketing by using 3D printing technology for their jersey presentation for the 2026/2027 season. The club showcased a 20-centimetre-tall miniature of team captain Mickey Demetriou, created through advanced 3D scanning and printing techniques. This innovative approach was developed in partnership with Hybrid Services, the club's official printing partner. The scanning process took place directly at Mornflake Stadium, where Demetriou was captured in both his old and new Puma home jerseys. The use of an Artec Leo 3D scanner allowed for precise detail, including the jersey's texture and color gradients. After the scanning, the data was processed and printed using a Mimaki 3DUJ-2207, which can reproduce over ten million colors without the need for additional varnishing. This level of detail ensures that the miniature accurately reflects Demetriou's likeness and the club's branding. The promotional video featuring Demetriou and the miniature garnered nearly 40,000 views on Instagram, significantly boosting interest in the jersey sale. This project illustrates how Crewe is leveraging cutting-edge technology not just as a novelty but as a strategic marketing tool to create personalized and engaging content for fans.
